Triassic Insects

Insects were present in the Triassic marsh, probably much as they are in and around wetlands today and it is likely that they would have formed an important part of the food chain. Fossilised insects are rare in the Knocklofty Formation but wing impressions of an ancient cockroach Triassoblatta and a bug Homoptera have been found.
