Shrimps

Small freshwater crustaceans including various types of shrimp are common in the Knocklofty Formation.  These tiny animals were likely preyed upon by fish and smaller amphibians.  Fossils of these animals are similar to Anaspides a genus of shrimp which are still found alive today.  Exclusive to the alpine lakes of Tasmania, these little creatures are considered 'living fossils'.
