Grass

Grass or Poaceae is a type of flowering plant so familiar to us today that it is almost impossible to imagine a world without it.  Yet, evidence from fossil pollen indicates that grass, while present in the environment, was not that common in southern Australia until after around 15 million years ago. Certainly the dinosaurs never experienced grass!
